Warwick’s Chef School was established in 1991, and is one of the fore runners in culinary training in South Africa, for young students who want to enter the hospitality industry as a chef.
Our aim is to prepare young and upcoming chefs for the fast growing hospitality industry by making them competent and confident in the basics of French Classic Cuisine and contemporary style cooking.
With Kevin Warwick as principal, supported by his full time and part time lecturers, personal attention is definitely guaranteed for the up to 24 students (in 2 classes of 12) who are accepted for each intake.
Warwick’s is an approved centre to offer the City & Guilds International Certificate and Diploma in Food Preparation & Culinary Arts, which forms part of the course content. It is also an approved examination centre.
Warwick’s Chef School prepares students for the industry in their modern lab training kitchen as well as in a realistic industry related kitchen environment.
During the course, students are tested every week to monitor their progress, and on-going assessments are done by each of the instructors. Two 3-hour theoretical examinations and two final practical examinations are conducted at the end of the course. A further examination is written for City & Guilds.
The school is situated in the Hemel-en-Aarde Village, Sandbaai, +/- 5km before the beautiful coastal town of Hermanus. (Approximately 120km outside Cape Town on the R43 on the way to the Garden Route). Many of the student accommodation flats are situated in Onrust River and in the neighboring villages of Vermont and Sandbaai. A list of landlord / landladies who have accommodation available to our students will be sent to the successful applicants.
