About the Principal

Born and raised in the Cape, South Africa, Kevin Warwick started his chef training in the hotel/restaurant industry in Holland.

Upon his return to South Africa, he furthered his training at the 5 star Heerengracht Hotel in Cape Town. After climbing the ladder, he was employed as Sous Chef, and later Head Chef of the Hohenort Hotel in Constantia, and then became Executive Sous Chef of the Eastern Boulevard Holiday Inn.

In 1982, he became Head Chef of the de Luxe Van Donck Restaurant at the Heerengracht Hotel. Three years later he opened his own successful restaurant, the 'Onrust Kitchen' in Onrust River near Hermanus, which a well known newspaper critic referred to as: "... it must be one of the best restaurants in South Africa. .. ". Finally in 1991,he started the Warwick's Chef School.

In between his work and studies, he entered competitions, winning awards and medals. He has also been a judge of the Marvello and Chef's Association 'Chef of the Year' Competition amongst others. Kevin has been interviewed on radio, and has appeared on television doing cooking demonstrations to raise funds for charity and has been featured while training. He also spent time working in the Michelin starred restaurant of Roger Verge in the South of France.

Kevin is a member of the South African Chef Association (an Ex- Western Cape Committee Member), he was until recently the Chairman of the Hermanus Restaurateurs Association, and member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs.

"I have achieved a lot while working in the Hospitality industry as a chef in various restaurants and hotels, eventually owning my own restaurant, function facility and running the catering for a prestigious security village, all of which are used as training outlets for the students of my full time Chefs Training School. All the experience and achievements in the world would not mean anything unless it is passed on to the up and coming young chefs of this country.
Over the past 15 years, while running the Warwick's Chef School, watching our young students succeed in the industry all over the world, has proved that we are on the right
track."
